Step 5: Add Face Frame & Crown Moulding
Wow... I actually made it to the end! This definitely turned out to be my largest project to date and here at the final step I forgot to take pictures of the face frame assembly and install!

As you will see, I simply made a few small oak supports to cover up all of the creases between each box and a large, wide oak board to span the distance above the boxes to the ceiling supports. Once the face frames were attached, we ran crown moulding around all of it, caulked it, primed, painted, decorated, and DONE!

At the same time I was working on this upper and lower cabinets I also was working on remodeling our island in the middle of the kitchen. I'll write a separate post on that project.  Check out the links and pictures below and contact me if you have any additional questions. You don't have to be an experienced woodworker; you can do in your kitchen too!

Step 4: Spraying Primer & Paint

Alright! Now the fun part begins. Things will now finally start to look like you planned for them to look a long time ago. First off, there was no way that I wanted to hand-prime and then hand-paint 19 doors front and back in addition to all of the face frames (multiple coats I might add). If you are willing to do that then go for it! However, I decided that I needed my hands and preferred to keep my sanity. This is precisely why I invested in a Graco Paint Sprayer! I knew it would be great for the cabinets because I had already practiced using it by re-painting all of our interior doors (which only took about 20 minutes...but that's another story for another time). For this step I simply used some coat hangers and few hooks, made a quick spray booth in my garage, sprayed each door and then laid them out to dry.

Step #3 - Making Face Frame Ceiling Supports

One of my favorite things I enjoy doing is woodworking with a couple of good friends! These two guys here have helped me out with a ton of projects in the past and always seem to be around right when I need an extra hand.

The next step in the cabinet build was quick and easy...well with these guys around. All we wanted to do was create some type of simple "L" shaped bracket to attach to the ceiling so that the oak face frame could later attach to the brackets (this will make sense later). All we did was take 2 long strips of left over plywood and connected them together into a long 90 degree "L" with a couple of screws and then crosscut it into smaller sections to attach to the ceiling. Another step closer!
